Jong Lee, aka Peach Luffe, sings and creates from his heart ∙∙

We bonded over relationships, film photography, music, and I showed the two one of my favorite beaches in SF, a night spent with blackness, mystery, new beginnings, and fishermen catching crabs with their hands.

“Beyond” Music Video — I found myself collaborating in this!

This is the music video for “Beyond,” produced and created by Peach Luffe and Mild Monk.

An artist from Toronto I’d met in the final week before quitting my last fancy barista job, Jong inspires me with his daily perseverance, the way he devotes to his fans and followers, and the story of his life. He’s Korean Canadian, and makes music with his heart on his sleeve — he’s one of the most honest, hardworking, and selfless and engaging talented artists I met, by universal love and chance. Fun fact — in this music video, we did the ENTIRE thing in one single long take, running through the streets in SF that Henry then split up to use throughout the music video. I ran varsity track in high school, so sprinting alongside them up the side hill of Dolores Park with a giant gimble that gave me a bruised elbow the next day was kind of the best day of my life. The energy was surreal (and so was the panting, haha)

He and Henry/Mild Monk were filming for a song they created together, “Beyond,” that when filmed, captured his experience in California. When I quit my barista job, I found myself spending a lot of time with them, giving entirely to the sponteneity while simultaneously feeling lost and uncertain in my own role in life, as these things can co-exist. Running up this hill with the gimble, meeting fluffy dog friends, and having dinner at SF’s Mission Chinese, a famous hole in the wall in the Mission District after filming, were some highlights of this day. headfirst into the universe’s blessings for me at the time — which was Jong and Henry, who I’d fleetingly known two years before from working at another cafe that was a homey spot for the musicians).

We bonded over relationships, film photography, music, and our journeys through self-discovery in love. I showed the two one of my favorite beaches in SF, a night spent with blackness, mystery, new beginnings, and fishermen catching crabs with their hands.
